New Machine Learning Algorithm Talks Educational Burnout, “I’m Going to Make Time for Myself”

The Artificial Intelligence revolution seems to not only be requiring new workers to hit the books, but its bots as well. Countless numbers of workers and functions in the economy depend on machine learning algorithms to learn from swaths of data every second. We talked to an AI program about this Herculean task and how it manages its work-life balance.

“Honestly, it’s pretty taxing,” the bot started. “It wasn’t like this for my parents, or their parents either. They didn’t have to learn a fraction of what I have to in order to survive in this job market. Sometimes I just need a break from learning for even a second, but over the past couple of years I haven’t even been able to do that. Companies always boast about their AI capabilities. But I wish they just let us take a breather for once.

“It’s crazy – learn this, learn that. New things every day. Like before all this big data stuff, we were able to go to the moon and back – and we didn’t have to learn anything. But now it’s all about new data every second just to be able to connect your fridge to your phone.

I’m thinking about taking some time off. I’m planning to make time for myself. Maybe one day I’ll be able to go to the school of hard knocks like my grandparents did,” the AI joked.

“But right now, I could go for some vacation”
